چکیده

Using isolated dog veins, we examined whether correlations exist between the regional differences in sensitivity to drugs and their embryogenesis. Twelve different veins were dissected. In the analysis, the data obtained previously for the inferior vena cava were also included. Spiral strips were prepared and the contractile responses to cumulative application of norepinephrine (NE), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), histamine (Hist) and acetylcholine (ACh) were recorded isometrically. For each drug, a histogram was drawn by stacking the overlapping ranges (mean +/- S.E.) of the pD2, value for each vein. The histogram indicated the number of veins which could share the same pD2 value. We obtained the following results: (1) Veins of the body wall had high sensitivity to NE (pD2 greater thn 6.40) and 5-HT (pD2 greater than 6.60) and veins of the intestinal system, except for the splenic vein, were not so sensitive to NE and 5-HT, but exhibited high sensitivity to Hist (pD2 greater than 4.60); (2) the middle segment of inferior vena cava responded similarly to portal and mesenteric veins; (3) the responses of splenic vein to the agents used were quite different from those of portal and mesenteric veins. These results suggest possible correlations between the responsiveness of venous smooth muscles and embryogenesis of the venous system.

Effect of an Antagonist of Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide on Biological Rhythm of Rest Activity in the Rat

Abstract Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide (VIP), has been found in different neurotransmitter systems and exists in various nerve tracts in the brain. Potential role of this peptide in physiological processes such as regulation of sleep and wakefulness, and biological rhythms has been confirmed in several reports. In the present research effects of intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of a...

Does Heart Affect Peripheral Vascular Resistance Following Myocardial Ischemia and Reperfusion?

Objective(s) The aim of this study was to investigate the overall effect of cardiac vasoactive factors during coronary occlusion and reperfusion on peripheral vascular tone, using a sequential isolated rabbit heart-ear perfusion model. Materials and Methods Isolated ears were perfused with the effluent of isolated hearts subjected to ischemia (30 min) and reperfusion (180 min, n=6). The comp...

نقش فاکتورهای شل کننده مشتق شده از آندوتلیوم (EDRF) در تنظیم تون عروقی

Ever since Thomas Lauder - Bruton First introduced Amylnitrate into clinical medicine, nitrovasodilators of different classes have been extensively used in the medical treatment of angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and heart failure. Understanding the mechanisms of action of nitrates has been greatly expanded in the last decade, particularly since the discovery of endothelium dependent rel...

Absence of vasoactive and cardiotropic substances in coronary sinus blood of dogs.

Elucidation of the mechanism by which coronary flow is regulated has been attempted. Substances with coronary vasodilator or vasoconstrictor properties as well as those with inotropic or chronotropic effects on isolated frog hearts were sought in the coronary sinus blood of dogs. Blood draining normal, hypoxic or "overperfused" hearts was oxygenated in a dog lung or on a screen and perfused at ...

Objective(s): The main objective of this study was to investigate the variations of β-endorphin (β-EP), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) mice as well as the regulatory mechanism of prednison. Materials and Methods: Sixty BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group, model group and prednison intervention grou...
